State-run MMTC has invited competitive bids for the import of 37,000 tonnes of pulses, to be delivered next month.

MMTC has solicited 25,000 tonnes of yellow peas from Canada and 3,000 tonnes each of pigeon peas, black mapte and desi chick peas from Myanmar and Australia.

The last date for submission of bids is November 18 and a decision on the award of contract will be taken by November 25, the company said on its website.

Bidders will be required to submit quotations against the entire quantity specified for each of the pulses, it said.

The shipments should reach the Mumbai, Chennai or Kolkata ports by next month, it added.

India imports 3-4 million tonnes of pulses every year through public trading agencies like MMTC, STC and PEC to meet domestic demand.
