Mustardseed prices surged by Rs 46 to Rs 3,910 per quintal in futures trading today on increased buying by speculators.

Marketmen said strong demand from oil mills and vanaspati units coupled with restricted arrivals in physical markets, mainly led to the rise in future prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed for August improved by Rs 46, or 1.19%, to Rs 3,910 per quintal, with an open interest of 67,060 lots.

In the July contract, the prices shot up by Rs 45, or 1.18%, to Rs 3,865 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,09,890 lots.
