National Aluminium (Nalco) has surged 8% to Rs 63.10 on National Stock Exchange (NSE) after reporting a robust 91% year on year jump in net profit to Rs 342 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2014 (Q2), on back of higher income and operational performance.
The state-run aluminium maker had profit of Rs 179 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.
Total operational income of the company rose 15% to Rs 1,996 crore from Rs 1,738 crore a year earlier. Total expenses of the company however, rose marginally by 1.6% to Rs 1,625 crore from Rs 1,599 crore.
The stock opened at Rs 63 and hit a high of Rs 64.30 on NSE so far. A combined 1.64 million shares changed hands on the counter in first 10 minutes of trade on NSE and BSE.
