The seminar,'Fractionation & Refining Techniques' is being sponsored by Technology Mission on Oilseeds & Pulses (TMO &P), government of India, Union ministry of food processing, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and Oil Technologists' Association of India (OTAI-W.Z), Mumbai.
In addition, the event will be supported by about 25 national and state level regional associations of the vegetable oil industry across the country. The seminar will be held on December 6.
The seminar aims to focus on the need for technology upgradation in vegetable oil industry and will discuss the latest technology available in India to reduce cost of processing, improve the quality and yield of products to the international standard, saving of precious water, solvent hexane, fuel, power and energies in the national interest.
Innovative ideas to check the wastage of materials at all stages of production, packing and use of substitute fuel such as bio-diesel in this global fuel crisis scenario will be highlighted.
These steps will make industrial units in India more productive in yield and quality and make them more competitive in the present scenario.
Additional Secretary and Mission Director TMO&P, B S Lali, will deliver the key note address. Around 200 oil technologists and technical experts from all over India are expected to deliberate on various issues for technology upgradation in vegetable oil industry and finding solutions to the pertinent problems facing the industry.
