India's natural rubber production increased by 4% in June this year to 59,200 tonne, while consumption rose by more than 6% to 80,500 tonne.
According to Rubber Board data, production and consumption in the year-ago period stood at 56,850 tonne and 75,450 tonne, respectively.
However, production of natural rubber fell marginally on a month-on-month basis in June to 59,200 tonne from 59,700 tonne in May.
Likewise, the consumption of natural rubber on a month-on-month basis also declined marginally in June to 80,500 tonne from 81,000 tonne in May.
Rubber exports increased by more than five-fold in June 2011, to 3,104 tonne from 618 tonne in the same period of the previous year. Shipments on a month-on-month basis rose by 78%. India exported 1,742 tonne of rubber in May 2011.
Similarly, imports increased by almost 60% in June 2011, to 19,118 tonne from 11,985 tonne in the year-ago period. Imports of natural rubber on a month-on-month basis rose by 16%. India had imported 16,293 tonne of rubber in May 2011.
Natural rubber stocks rose almost 37% in June this year to 2,47,442 tonne from 1,80,697 tonne in the corresponding period of the previous year.
