New listings trade at premium

More than half of the companies, which got listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2007, are trading at a premium, indicating a much-awaited revival of the primary market.

Of the 44 such companies, shares of 23 companies are trading in positive territory.

Vishal Retail, ICRA and Nitin Fire Protection have been the biggest gainers of 2007, as their value almost doubled after their capital market debut, while Pochiraju Industries, House of Pearl Fashions, Transwarranty Finance are trading at 15-40 per cent discount to their issue price.

However, the country's largest IPO by DLF, which mobilised Rs 9,000-odd crore in recent days, is trading nearly nine per cent above its issue price.

Analysts, however, do not see any specific trend taking shape into primary market offerings.
