Nickel futures prices today traded 0.36% lower at Rs 941.40 per kg, as speculators trimmed their positions following subdued spot demand in the spot market amid a weakening trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the May delivery weakened by Rs 3.40, or 0.36%, to Rs 941.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 258 lots.

The April contract traded lower by Rs 3.10, or 0.33%, to Rs 930.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,471 lots.

Market analysts said besides subdued demand from alloy- makers in the spot market, a weak trend in the overseas market kept pressure on the nickel prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, nickel traded 1.2% lower at $17,950 per tonne in early trade today on the London Metal Exchange.
