Amid profit-taking by speculators and weak trend overseas, nickel prices fell by Rs 4.60, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,046 per kg in futures market today.

Subdued demand in spot markets from alloy makers for the metal also cast its shadow on the sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, nickel futures for delivery in October-month delivery fell by Rs 4.60, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,046 per kg, with a turnover of four lots.

The metal for delivery in September-month also traded lower by Rs 3.80, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 1,039.10 per kg, with a turnover of one lot.

Analysts said besides profit-taking by speculators, weak global cues and subdued demand at domestic markets also weighed on the nickel futures prices here.
