Nickel prices today traded Rs 2.50 lower, or 0.25 per cent, at Rs 1,010.50 per kg as traders reduced their positions, driven by overnight losses at the London Metal Exchange.
Slackened demand from alloy-makers at the physical markets also kept some pressure on the nickel futures.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August and September contracts lost Rs 2.50, or 0.25 per cent each, at Rs 1,010.50 and Rs 1,017 per kg, with a turnover of 11,169 and 973 lots respectively.
Analysts said overnight weakness in copper and base metals at the London Metal Exchange after an unexpected rise in weekly US jobless claims and slackness in demand from alloy-makers at the spot markets mainly led to a fall in nickel futures prices here.
