Nickel futures extend gains on spot demand, global cues

Supported by firm demand at spot markets and strong trend overseas, nickel futures prices rose by 0.21 per cent, to Rs 1,047.70 per kg today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in current-month October contract traded Rs 2.20, or 0.21 per cent higher to Rs 1,047.70 per kg, with a turnover of nine lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November also moved up by Rs 2, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 1,059.40 per kg, with a turnover of of one lot.

Market analysts said strong demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot markets and firming trend in copper and other base metals, led to a rise in nickel futures prices here.
