Tracking a firming global trend, nickel futures prices fell by Rs 6.20 to Rs 1,099.80 per kg today due to fresh buying by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for September delivery fell by Rs 6.20, or 0.56%, to Rs 1,099.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 225 lots.

Similarly, the metal for August delivery declined by Rs 5.80, or 0.53%, to Rs 1,093.10 per kg, with a trade volume of 5,056 lots.

Market analysts said apart from weak trend overseas, fall in domestic demand from alloy-makers also influenced nickel futures prices.

Meanwhile, nickel declined 0.8% to $24,600 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
