Nickel futures prices today traded Rs 6.10 lower, or 0.58 per cent, at Rs 1,053 per kg, as speculators booked profits amid weak trend overseas.
Slack demand from alloy-makers at the physical markets also kept pressure on the nickel futures.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, nickel for delivery in September contract lost Rs 6.10, or 0.58 per cent at Rs 1,053 per kg, with a turnover of 118 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-taking at higher levels, weakness in base metals overseas also put some pressure on the nickel prices in futures trade.
Subdued demand for the metals at the spot markets also put some pressure, they said.
