Nickel futures continued its upward journey today and gained by 0.72 per cent to Rs 998 per kg after speculators enlarged their positions on increased spot demand and firming global cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, nickel for delivery in November traded Rs 7.10 or 0.72 per cent higher to Rs 998 per kg, with a trade turnover of 12 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in December also moved up by Rs 7 or 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,008.60 per kg, with a business turnover of four lots.
Market analysts said strong demand from alloy makers at domestic markets and firm trend in copper and other base metals, led to a rise in nickel futures prices here.
