Nickel futures rose by Rs 5.80, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 1,040.80 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange on strong demand for metal at the physical markets.
Nickel for delivery in far-month October contracts edged up by Rs 5.80, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 1,040.80 per kg in a turnover of 9 lots.
The September contract also traded higher by Rs 3.20, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 1,035 per kg, clocking a turnover of 156 lots.
At the London Metal Exchange, nickel was unchanged at $22,100 a tonne in early trade today.
Analysts said strong demand from alloy-makers and gains in base metals in global market on weaker dollar, mainly influenced nickel prices in futures trade here.
