Nickel prices recovered by Rs 8.70, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 963.30 per kg in futures trade today, as traders created fresh positions on firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, nickel for July contract recovered by Rs 8.70, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 963.30 per kg, with an open interest of 143 lots.
The metal for May contract also edged up by Rs 6.20, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 954.90 per kg, with a business volume of 12,106 lots.
Analysts attributed the recovery in nickel futures prices to fresh buying by traders in tandem with a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.
Meanwhile, nickel gained 0.97 per cent at $20,900 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
