Buoyed by a firming global trend and pick up in domestic demand, nickel prices rose by Rs 6.20 to Rs 935 per kg in futures trade today on speculators enlarging their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the May delivery rose by Rs 6.20, or 0.67%, to Rs 935 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,121 lots.
The April contract moved up by Rs 5.90, or 0.64%, to Rs 923.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 19,071 lots.
Analysts said besides a firming global trend, increased demand from alloy-makers in the spot market mainly pushed up nickel prices at futures trade here.
Meanwhile, nickel advanced 2.1% to $18,190 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
