Supported by increased demand from alloy makers and firming trend overseas, nickel futures rose by 0.13% today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, March nickel rose by Rs 1.20, or 0.13%, to Rs 947.60 per kg in business turnover of 598 lots.
The April delivery gained Rs 1.20, or 0.12%, to Rs 961.80 per kg in 105 lots.
Analysts said apart from firming global trend, pick-up in demand from alloy-makers in the spot market mainly led to the rise in nickel prices at futures market.
Meanwhile, nickel gained 0.2% to $18,483 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
