Supported by a firming global trend and pick-up in domestic demand, nickel futures prices rose marginally by 0.11% to Rs 976.20 per kg today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in April rose by Rs 1.10, or 0.11%, to Rs 976.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 56 lots.

March nickel gained 90 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 965.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 881 lots.

Analysts said besides a firming global trend, increased demand from alloy-makers in the spot markets mainly led to the rise in nickel prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, nickel climbed 0.4% to $19,345 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
