Nickel and tin prices fell sharply at the non-ferrous metal market here today on heavy offloading by stockists and traders following bearish trend overseas.

Elsewhere, copper utensils scrap and zinc also moved down slightly owing to mild selling. On the other hand, select copper and brass sheets cutting edged up further on increased demand from consumer industries.

The industrial metals largely ended with losses in overnight trade at the London Metal Exchange (LME), dragged down by weak economic data from the US.

Nickel plunged by Rs 28 per kilo to Rs 1,252 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 1,280 and tin dropped by Rs 15 per kilo to Rs 1,505 as compared to Rs 1,520 yesterday.

Copper utensils scrap and zinc both softened by a rupee per kilo each to Rs 422 and Rs 123, respectively.

However, copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy, copper armiture, copper wire bar and brass sheets cutting, all inched up by a rupee per kilo each to Rs 465, Rs 455, Rs 445, Rs 493 and Rs 314, respectively.
