Nickel prices gained 0.62 per cent to Rs 1,148.70 per kg in the futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in May moved up by Rs 7.10, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 1,148.70 per kg in a business turnover of 470 lots.

June nickel traded higher by Rs 7, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 1,145.70 per kg in 42 lots.

Analysts said speculators enlarged positions on rising demand from alloy-makers in the spot market which mainly influenced nickel prices at futures trade.
