Amid increased demand from alloy-makers in the spot market and a firming global trend, nickel prices moved up by Rs 2.30 to Rs 943.30 per kg in futures trade today.

At the MCX, nickel for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 2.30, or 0.24%, to Rs 943.30 per kg in business turnover of 14 lots.

The April contract was up by 90 paise, or 0.10%, to Rs 921.70 per kg in 5,539 lots.

Analysts said increased demand from alloy-makers in the spot market amid firming global trends mainly led to the rise in nickel prices at futures market.

Nickel gained 0.4% to USD 17,715 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
