Nifty Futures End At A Discount

Nifty futures declined for the second straight day today and ended at a discount to the underlying index, S&P CNX NIfty.

May contracts closed lower by 10.25 points at 936.75, while NIfty ended at 941.55, down by 8.60 points.

The other two contracts also closed at a discount. The June futures closed at 937.85, down by 9.90, while the July futures lost 5.55 points to close at 941.45 points.

Open interest in May futures stood at 18,592 contracts amid a volume of 15,344 contracts. On the NSE, while the cash market continued to be weak on the back of poor volumes, the participation in the derivatives segment was slightly better.

Total volume in the derivatives market stood at Rs 2,422.73 crore compared with Rs 2525.65 crore previous day. Index futures accounted for Rs 299.92 crore volume compared with previous day
