The markets continue to trade on a firm note, with once again the trade sensitives leading the up move. Also, the IT stocks have bounced back today following yesterday's profit taking.
The Sensex so far has touched a high of 19,615, and is now up 163 points at 19,580. The NSE Nifty is up 50 points at 5879.
The BSE Auto and Realty indexes have rallied over 1% each to 9318 and 3724, respectively. The Bankex and IT index is also up nearly 1% each at 13,766 and 5866, respectively.
The market breadth is also fairly positive as the mid-cap and small-caps are performing in line with the large-caps. Out of 2,812 stocks traded so far, 1,956 have moved up, while 761 have declined.
Cement stocks have moved up smartly in today's trade. Ambuja Cements is the top gainer among the Nifty stocks, It us up almost 5% at Rs 143. ACC has surged 3% to Rs 995. Grasim has added 2% to Rs 2,243.
Among others, India Cements has soared nearly 5% to Rs 114, and UltraTech Cement has rallied 4% to Rs 1,052.
ABB, Bharti Airtel and JP Associates have moved up around 2.5% each to Rs 835, Rs 356 and Rs 125, respectively.
Hindalco and Tata Steel have added 2% each to Rs 190 and Rs 607, respectively.
Ranbaxy, Unitech, DLF, Reliance Communications, Mahindra & Mahindra, Gail India and Sun Pharma are the other prominent gainers.
HDFC down nearly 1% at Rs 686 is the only notable loser in the Nifty 50 stocks.
