Nifty slips below 6,000

The markets continue to trade lower with the Sensex trading in a closed range of 100 points. The Nifty is down 69 points at 5,993 while the Sensex has shed 225 points at 19,899. However, the broader markets are quite steady. The midcap index is static down 1% like the benchmark index while the smllcap index is down 0.7%.

On the sectoral chart, there are some noticable changes. IT index has moved into the positive, up 0.1% while all the other indices continue to be in the negative.Earlier major losers, Capital Goods, Auto and Teck indices have moved ahead, paring their losses. On the other hand, FMCG,
realty and Metal has extended its losses and are at the bottom of the chart.

TCS, NTPC up 0.7%, Infosys and Maruti Suzuki gaining 0.1% each round off the gainers list.

ITC, ACC down nearly 3%, Jaiprakash Associates, Sterlite, HDFC and Hindalco losing 2% are the top losers on the Sensex.

The market breadth is negative. 1816 stocks have declined while 932  advanced.
