Most people who have invested in initial public offerings or IPOs in the last one year have made money.
Nine out of a total 13 companies that debuted on the stock markets in India since September 2014 are trading way above their issue price, thereby rewarding their shareholders with positive returns. The remaining four are trading 3%-22% below their issue price on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Snowman Logistics, Sharda Cropchem, VRL Logistics and Shemaroo are quoting more than 60% higher than their issue price.
Syngene International, the contract research arm of biotechnology major Biocon, has made a strong market debut today, listing at Rs 295 on the BSE. The stock has surged 27% to an intraday high of Rs 318 thus far against its issue price of Rs 250 and at 01:34 PM, the stock was trading at Rs 316 on the BSE.

Meanwhile, among the new listings in the last one year, Snowman Logistics and Sharda Cropchem are the biggest gainers in terms of returns.
The stock of Snowman Logistics is currently trading at Rs 108, with an two-fold gain against the issue price of Rs 47. Sharda Cropchem, trading at Rs 330, has also risen by over two-fold from its issue price of Rs 156.
VRL Logistics and Shemaroo Entertainment have gained 90% and 66% respectively, while Manpasand Beverages, Inox Wind and PNC Infratech are quoting more than each 20% higher than their issue price. Ortel Communications is up 5% over its issue price.
These nine companies (trading above the issue price) collectively raised Rs 3,771 crore and are currently valued 47% higher at Rs 5,559 crore.
