Leading bourse, BSE Ltd, today said it will exclude IT firm MphasiS and diversified company Piramal Enterprises from its derivative segment.

In a circular, the exchange said trading in derivative contracts for these two securities would not be available with effect from December 28, 2012.

"...There shall be no contracts available for trading in ...Securities (MphasiS and Piramal Enterprises) with effect from December 28, 2012.

"However, the existing unexpired contracts of expiry months October 2012, November 2012 and December 2012 would continue to be available for trading till their respective expiry and new strikes would also be introduced in the existing contract months," it added.

Earlier this week, the National Stock Exchange has announced that it would exclude the two companies from Future and Options (F&O) segment.

As per the Sebi's regulation, any scrip with a minimum trading volume of Rs 10 lakh and market wide position limit (MWPL) or market capitalisation of Rs 300 crore would be eligible for entry into the F&O segment.

Any scrip, however, that fails to maintain a minimum MWPL requirement of Rs 200 crore will cease to be in F&O segment.

The scrip exits the derivative segment if Median Quarter Sigma Order Size (MQSOS), which indicate liquidity or order size in a scrip, falls below Rs 5 lakh.
