Not all lost, 213 scrips buck trend

As many as 213 stocks managed to close on a positive note, even though the Sensex ended in the red, down 456.84 points.
 
Among Sensex stocks, Cipla (1.83 per cent), Satyam Computer Services (1.24 per cent), Reliance Energy (0.55 per cent) and Ranbaxy Laboratories (0.37 per cent) ended in the green.
 
In the A group, Jindal Saw, Nestle India, Colgate-Palmolive, CMC, Crompton Greaves and Britannia Industries closed higher in the range of 1 per cent to 5 per cent against their previous day's close.
 
Around 213 stocks gained in the range of 1 per cent to 18 per cent against their Friday's close. The aggregate market wealth of 213 stocks appreciated by Rs 2,318 crore (1 per cent) from Rs 1,61,029 crore on May, 19 to Rs 1,64,047 crore today.
 
Of the 213 stocks, 10 stocks gained in the range of 10 per cent to 18 per cent, 38 scrips between 5 per cent and 10 per cent and 96 stocks in the range of 2 per cent to 5 per cent.
 
Suarana Industries gained 14 per cent at Rs 104.80 against its Friday's close of Rs 92. Thirumalai Chemicals' price appreciated 10 per cent at Rs 145 (Rs 132), Premco Global 8 per cent at Rs 25.10 (Rs 23.20), CCL Products 7 per cent at Rs 450 (Rs 420), Maharashtra Seamless 7 per cent at Rs 330 (Rs 310) and G G Dandekar Machines 5.4 per cent at Rs 74.80 (Rs 71).
 
Of the 213 stocks, a total of 61 stocks hit the upper limit of the circuit breaker, 26 from T group, 18 from Z group, 14 from B2 group, Gini Silk Mills and Sunil Agro Products from TS and Suraj Stainless from the S group.
 
Satra Properties (Rs 328.25), GEE (Rs 307.55) and Lynx Machinery (29.25) closed at higher limited of 2 per cent of the circuit breaker and GI Hotels (Rs 115.50), Marathon Nextgen (Rs 98), BCL Forging (Rs 43.65) and Gujarat Setco Clutch (Rs 34.04) were frozen at maximum limit of 5 per cent on the BSE.
