Oct-Sept soymeal exports down to 3.5 mn tn

India's October-September soymeal exports are seen at 3.5 million tonne, down from 4.1 million tonne in the same period a year ago, an industry official said on Saturday.

"This likely dip in exports is due to good demand from the domestic poultry industry," said Rajesh Agarwal, spokesperson of Soybean Processors Association.He also said the outbreak of bird flu in South Asia has not affected Indian soymeal exports.

Soymeal exports during October-February was 2.2 million tonne, against 2.0 million tonnes a year ago.

Agarwal estimated exports at 500,000 tonnes in March, 300,000 tonnes in April and 100,000 tonnes every month between May-September.

The dip in exports post-March is due to the South American crop arriving in the global markets.
