Oilmeal exports declined 49 per cent in November due to weak export demand and lower availability of meals from crushing mills.
According to the Solvent Extractors’ Association data, oilmeal exports fell to 346,859 tonnes in November compared with 678,169 tonnes in the same month last year.
In the first eight months of finacial year 2009-2010, exports fell 44 per cent to 1.9 million tonnes, compared with 3.3 million tonnes in the same period last year. Domestic oilseed processing mills operated at less capacity due to farmers holding their produce in anticipation of higher prices.
