Open interest peaks in Tata Steel

Volumes continued to be low in the derivatives segment with the total turnover touching Rs 6,318.22 crore on Wednesday.
 
Volumes in individual stock futures were of the order of Rs 3,112.56 core and in index futures at Rs 2,632.66 crore. The total number of contracts traded was of the order of 2.28 lakh.
 
Among individual stock futures, the top traded contracts were those of Satyam Computer, Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, Reliance Industries and State Bank of India.
 
In terms of open interest, the top traded contracts were those of Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, Tata Power, Tata Motors and Arvind Mills.
 
The Nifty June futures ended at 1,529, at a discount to the spot Nifty which closed at 1,548.30. Among the futures contracts, Tata Power, Arvind Mills, Polaris Software and Bharat Electronics among others ended at a premium to their spot values.
 
Reliance Energy, Punjab National Bank, Indian Oil Corporation, Ranbaxy Laboratories and Tata Motors ended at a discount to their respective spot values.
 
In the case of individual options Satyam Computer calls at strikes of 310 and 320 were the most traded, while Satyam put at 300 also saw high interest. Tata Steel's call at 300 and Tata Motors call at 400 were among the top traded contracts.
