Opto Circuits surges as group firm wins case against Zoll

The company's group firm Cardiac Science Corporation has been awarded $23 million in lost royalties

Shares of Opto Circuits were up nearly 7% at Rs 20 after the company announced that its US-based group firm Cardiac Science Corporation (CSC) won a case against Zoll Medical Corporation over its patented wearable defibrillator technology.

On May 22, a 12-person jury in Los Angeles Superior Court unanimously decided in favour of the company's breach of contract claims against Zoll Medical Corporation and Zoll LifeCor Corporation, awarding Cardiac Science $23 million in lost royalties, Opto Circuits said in a release.

CSC, a group company of Opto Circuits, develops, manufactures and markets automated external defribrillators.

The stock opened at Rs 18.20 and touched a high of Rs 20. At 12:45PM, over 4.6 million shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
