Our Bureau Mumbai
Last Updated : Jun 14 2013 | 4:18 PM IST

The market would consolidate and be range-bound for the next couple of months. The bottom will be at around 7300-7400 levels, while the index could go up to 8400-8500 on the upper level.

The market will take a new turn after the Budget. Traditionally, foreign institutional investors book profits in November and December and again get into the buying mode from January.

Meanwhile, new issues are lined up and we need to see how excess liquidity is absorbed . Currently, the Indian market is reasonably placed compared to the world market. In the long run, the markets will be on a bullish trend.

"" Nimesh Kampani,
Chairman, JM Morgan Stanley

9000 next year

Overall outlook is positive. The economy is likely to grow between 7 per cent and 8 per cent. The index should cross 9,000 next year. Index companies should post an earnings growth of around 20 per cent.

On interest rates, there might be minor changes on either side. But I don't expect the interest rates to harden. Inflation will also be around 5 per cent.

The new year will see investments in manufacturing and core sectors, which will help larger growth in the economy. Exports should continue to be buoyant.

"" Anand Rathi,
Chairman, Anand Rathi Securities

Consolidation ahead

The equity market should consolidate in the short term but the outlook is positive on a medium to long term perspective. The market will follow the lead given by the global markets.

Investors should expect modest to average returns and shouldn't expect the same kind of returns as they received in the last year.

""Motilal Oswal,
Chairman, Motilal Oswal Securities

Shun penny stocks

The market is just undergoing a long term correction but is far healthier than it was a month ago. Investors will do good if they stick on to scrips which are fundamentally strong and has a good growth strategy rather than running behind penny scrips. Inflation is a global concern but it is just a passing phenomenon.

""Ramesh Damani,
A leading investor and member, BSE

Positive in the long term

I think the India story is still intact, despite the recent correction. Investors would do well to stick to their asset allocation irrespective of the vagaries of the market. We continue to be positive about the markets in the long term.

""Abhay Aima,
Country Head, Equities and
Private banking group, HDFC Bank

Keep eye on buying opportunities

Overall, I am bullish on the coming year. The markets are likely to witness volatility going forward. So the challenge will be to identify good buying opportunities in the market. I think there will be stocks in certain sectors which will underperform due to various factors.

"" Parag Parikh,
Chairman, Parag Parikh Financial Advisory Services

Expect more inflows

The momentum in the economy is very good. If the market performs consistently we can expect far more domestic inflows than expected.
