Palmolein and soyabean oil prices rose by Rs 10 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale oils and oilseeds market today, on firming global trend.

Traders said fresh buying by vanaspati millers for the ongoing marriage season amid firming global trend, mainly led to rise in palmolein and soyabean oil prices.

Buying activity picked up as palm oil advanced in Malaysia on concerns that output of soybeans from Brazil may decline, spurring the demand for other vegetable oils amid low stockpiles.

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for delivery in May climbed 1.6 per cent to $1,203 a metric tonne on the Malaysian Derivative Exchange. In the national capital, palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) rose by Rs 10 each to Rs 5,960 and Rs 5,760, respectively.
