PEC invites bid for importing 856 tonnes of pulses

State-run trading firm PEC Ltd has invited bids for importing 856 tonnes of pulses for supply in the domestic market.

According to a notification posted on its website, PEC is seeking delivery of the pulses at Mumbai port this year.

While two bids worth 556 tonnes have to be submitted by February 15, for rest 300 tonnes the last date of submission of tenders is February 16.

Tenders will be opened on the respective closing dates (February 15 and February 16) itself.

While 200 tonnes of toor sweplar is old crop category, 100 tonnes of green moong is of Australian origin of the crop year 2010, it said giving specifications of the proposed import content.

Among the rest, 250 tonnes of toor matwara pulses belong to the crop year 2009 and 306 tonnes of toor FAQ is of Mozambique orgin and belonging to 2009 crop year, it added.

India imports around 4 million tonnes of pulses annually to meet the domestic demands.
