Pepper prices moved down by Rs 67 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 16,940 per quintal in futures market today on sluggish domestic as well as overseas demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, pepper for July-month contract fell Rs 67, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 16,940 per quintal, with an open interest of 952 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May contract declined by Rs 48, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 16,179 per quintal, with a business turnover of 1,341 lots.
Market analysts said, overseas demand for the Indian- -origin pepper was weak because prices were at premium compared with other competing countries in the international markets.
