Pepper futures prices fell by Rs 214 to Rs 23,170 per quintal today as traders booked profits and arrivals picks up in Kerala.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, pepper for March delivery tumbled by Rs 214, or 0.92 per cent, to Rs 23,170 per quintal, with an open interest in 307 lots.
The spice for February delivery also slid by Rs 194, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 22,964 per quintal, with an open interest in 2,259 lots, while January pepper futures contracts were down by Rs 188, or 0.82 per cent, at Rs 22,680 per quintal.
Market analysts said the fall in pepper futures prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators amid reports of a pick-up in fresh crop arrivals in Kerala.
