Black pepper and jeera prices declined by Rs 400 per quintal in the national capital today owing to reduced demand from retailers and stockists.

Weakening trend in futures market and adequate stocks following fresh arrivals from producing belts also kept pressure on the prices. Black pepper prices declined by Rs 400 to conclude at Rs 28,900-29,400 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded lower at Rs 15,000-15,300 and Rs 17,300-17,500 against previous closing of Rs 15,400-15,700 and Rs 17,700-17,900 per quintal, respectively.

Market analysts said reduced offtake by local parties and weak export demand, mainly pulled down pepper and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
