Pepper, jeera rise on fresh buying

Black pepper and jeera prices rose upto Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Tight stocks position followed by fall in supplies from the producing belts also influenced the prices. Black pepper prices rose by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 16,600-16,700 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also increased by Rs 200 to Rs 12,200-12,500 and Rs 13,600-14,200 per quintal. Traders said increased buying by stockists and rising exports demand, influenced the pepper and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 10,500-15,500, black pepper common 16,600-16,700, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 850-900 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 1,000-1,050

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1250-1,350, cardamom (colour robin) 1,450-1,550, cardamom bold 1,450-1,570, cardamom extra (bold) 1,550-1,700 and cloves (kg) 280-340
