Black pepper and jeera prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters. Black pepper prices rose by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 19,000-19,100 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also edged higher by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 12,300-12,600 and Rs 13,600-14,100 per quintal.

Traders said market sentiment turned better after the rising domestic and exports demand with a firming trend at futures market, pushing up pepper and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

They said fall in supplies as farmers held back their produce in anticipation of rise in prices, too influenced the trading sentiment.
