Black pepper and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on good demand from retailers as well as exporters.

Following the fall in supplies from producing belts and a firming trend in the futures market also supported the rise in prices.

Black pepper prices surged by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 22,700-22,900 per quintal. Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 14,300-14,600 and Rs 15,400-15,900 per quintal.

Traders said the rise in pepper and jeera prices is due to the good demand from retailers and exporters, which pushed up pepper and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
