Pepper, jeera up on stockists buying

Black pepper and jeera prices shot up by Rs 200 per quintal each in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Black pepper prices were up by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 20,800-20,900 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded higher at Rs 13,700-13,900 and Rs 14,900-15,400, against the previous closing of Rs 13,500-13,700 and Rs 14,700-15,200 per quintal, respectively. 

Traders said sentiment turned better following rising domestic and export demand and firming trend at futures market, pushing up pepper and jeera prices.

Ajwain 13,500-19,000, black pepper common 20,800-20,900 betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 650-700 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 725-825

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,080-1,180, cardamom (colour robin) 1,080-1,090, cardamom bold 1,100-1,115, cardamom extra (bold) 1,380-1,400 and cloves (kg) 300-370
