Black pepper and jeera prices rose by up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today largely influenced by tight stocks against fresh buying by stockists and exporters.

Fall in supplies from producing belts also put pressure on the prices. Black pepper prices rose by Rs 300 to settled at Rs 27,800-28,000 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also advanced by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 15,100-15,300 and Rs 17,300-17,400 per quintal, respectively, due to strong overseas demand.

Traders said sentiments turned better following pick-up in domestic and export demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts, mainly pushed up pepper and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
