Portal Set To Get Sugar Futures Trading Licence

After a long delay, the Centre is set to finally give commodities portal e-commodities.com the license to operate its sugar futures exchange.

This move will facilitate the commencement of futures trading in sugar.

In November 2002, the consumer affairs ministry had given an in-principle nod to e-commodities for starting sugar futures. The company had filed an application seeking permission to start trade and had been waiting for a five-year licence to go ahead with their plan for starting the exchange.
