Potato declines 0.5% on higher supply

Prices went down as speculators offloaded positions

Potato prices declined by 0.48% to Rs 870.50 per quintal in futures market today as speculators offloaded positions amid higher supplies from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the July declined by Rs 4.20, or 0.48% to Rs 870.50 per quintal in 5 lots.

The June contract also shed Rs 2.30, or 0.25%, to Rs 927.60 per quintal in 10 lots.

Market experts said speculators offloading their positions following higher supplies from producing regions, mainly weighed on potato futures here.
