Potato prices fell by 2% to Rs 966.60 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions due to low demand in spot markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato prices for April contract fell by Rs 19.80, or 2%, to Rs 966.60 per quintal, with a business volume of 45 lots.
The potato for delivery in March declined by Rs 16.40, or 1.64%, to Rs 980.20 per quintal, with a trading volume of 110 lots.
Market experts said traders offloaded their holdings at existing higher levels, tracking a weak spot market trend on fresh supplies, mainly pulled down potato prices.
