Potato futures prices rose by Rs 5.60 to Rs 441.30 per quintal today as traders created fresh positions, following a rise in demand in the spot market.
Restricted arrivals from producing belts also supported the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for September delivery rose by Rs 5.60, or 1.29%, to Rs 441.30 per quintal, with a business turnover of 161 lots.
The potato for July delivery also moved up by Rs 2,20, or 0.43%, to Rs 509.20 per quintal, with a trade volume of 178 lots.
Analysts said fresh buying by traders on pick-up in demand in the spot market mainly led to rise in potato prices at futures trade.
