Potato futures prices rose by Rs 1.80 to Rs 634 per quintal today, as traders enlarged their positions on pick up in spot market demand due to marriage season.
Restricted supply from producing regions also supported the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, potato for April delivery rose by Rs 1.80, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 634 per quintal.
Potato for March month contract traded higher by Rs 1.20, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 653.40 per quintal.
Analysts said increased buying by traders and speculators on pick up in demand in the spot market due to the ongoing marriage season led to rise in potato futures prices.
They said restricted arrivals from producing belts in Agra and Haldwani also influenced the trading sentiment to some extent.
