Potato prices shed Rs 2.60 to Rs 480 per quintal in futures trading today owing to sluggish demand against adequate stock availability in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for July delivery shed Rs 2.60, or 0.54%, to Rs 480 with a business turnover of 33 lots.

Likewise, potato for August delivery was trading lower by Rs 2, or 0.44%, at Rs 448 with an open interest for 60 lots.

Market analysts said sluggish demand against the adequate stock position in the spot market mainly led to the decline in potato prices in futures trade.
