Potato prices fell by Rs 11.30 to Rs 384.50 per 100 kgs in futures trade today, as speculators offloaded their positions on reduced offtake in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, potato for October month contract fell by Rs 11.30 or 2.86 per cent, to Rs 384.50 per 100 kgs, with a business volume of 120 lots.

The potato for delivery in August contract eased by Rs 10.90 or 2.79 per cent to Rs 380 per 100 kgs, with a turnover of 214 lots, while September-month contract also traded lower by Rs 10.10 or 2.57 per cent, to Rs 382.50 per 100 kgs, with a trading volume of 190 lots.

Continued fall in potato prices was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators, driven by subdued demand in the spot market, traders said.
