Potato prices rose by Rs 11.20 to Rs 833 per quintal in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick up in the spot market demand.

Less arrivals from producing regions in the physical market also supported the recovery in potato prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, teh April contract for potato moved up by Rs 11.20, or 1.36%, to Rs 833 per quintal, with a business turnover of 135 lots.

The March contract traded higher by Rs 8.60, or 1.07%, to Rs 815 per quintal, with an open interest of 377 lots.
